Associates
If you’re an early career professional, starting a career in HR, or working for a small business where HR is only one of the many hats you wear, then an associate level membership is for you. This membership level is designed to offer you support and guidance as you take your first steps into a career in HR.
As an associate member, you will receive:

Student membership
Are you a full or part-time university student studying HR or a related field? Join AHRI to access resources to support your studies, join AHRI programs and events, and start building your professional HR network to help you become job-ready.
Eligibility:
- Associate student membership is designed for university students who are currently studying full or part-time and have never worked in an HR role.

Professional MAHRI
If you have over 5 years’ experience working in HR or people management, or an undergraduate degree (or higher) and 2 years’ experience working in HR, you qualify for professional membership.
As a professional member, you can be recognised for your expertise by using the MAHRI post-nominal, and you are eligible to apply for HR certification to take your career to new heights.
As a professional MAHRI member, you will receive:

Continuing professional development requirement
Professional MAHRI members are expected to complete 60 hours of continuing professional development every 3 years. CPD points can be earned by attending AHRI events, enrolling in short courses or engaging through AHRI networks to find local and state upskilling opportunities.
Members can track and record CPD points in the AHRImember portal.

Certified HR professional
As a Certified HR Practitioner you can wear your CPHR post-nominal with pride. This signals to your professional community that you’ve been assessed against global best-practice HR benchmarks, and that you’ve got the skills to be a strategic business partner and influencer in your business.
If you are an existing Professional MAHRI member, or you’ve got over five years of HR/people management experience, you’re eligible to apply to become a certified member.
AHRI’sNational Certification Council, which is made up of a selection of senior HR experts, awards certification to those who’ve completed anAHRI certification pathway.
As a Certified CPHR member, you will receive:
- Use of the ‘CPHR’ post-nominal to signal to your professional community that you’re up to date with best-practice HR
- Access to AHRI’s global best-practice HR framework and Capability Analysis tool
- AHRI ProCoverprofessional indemnity insurance

Fellow FAHRI / Fellow Certified FCPHR

Who are AHRI Fellows?
As an AHRI Fellow, you are a committed HR professional and have become a certified HR practitioner though one of the pathways, i.e., the AHRI Practising Certification program, the Senior Leaders pathway, or joined AHRI via the CIPD reciprocal membership as a CPHR.
The criteria for Fellowship are aligned to the Professional Recognition Framework, which is underpinned by the AHRI Model of Excellence.
AHRI Fellows can use the postnominal FAHRI or FCPHR (Fellow Certified Practitioner of HR).

Fellow FAHRI and Fellow Certified FCPHR members are expected to complete 60 hours of continuing professional development every 3 years.

Fellow Certified HR professional
An AHRI fellowship is the highest membership level you can achieve. The FCPHR post-nominal is reserved for senior HR leaders who are proven influencers and strategists, and can demonstrate a high level of theoretical and practical HR knowledge.
If you’re an existing AHRI member who has made significant contributions to the HR profession, and you’ve been working in the industry for 10+ years (five of which were spent in a senior leadership or management position), this is the membership level for you.
Apply to become a Certified Fellow via theSenior Leaders Pathway to certification, or theChartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) reciprocal membershippathway. OurAHRI Fellow Application Guideis available to guide you through the application process.
As a Certified Fellow of AHRI, you will receive:
- Use of the ‘FCPHR’ post-nominal to signal to your professional community that you’re up to date with best-practice HR and a proven senior HR leader
- A 50% discount to attend AHRI’s annual convention

Renew your membership

Upgrade your membership
Associate members can upgrade to Professional membership directly via themember portal.
Professional MAHRI members can become Certified CPHR members by applying for and completing theAHRI Practising Certification program.
